SIXTH GRADE

Sixth grade students, by the end of the year, should be competent at computing with positive and negative numbers, fractions and decimals.  They learn about exponents and do more work with ratios, proportions, and percentages (calculating such things as taxes, tips, and interest).  In geometry, they construct various lines, angles, and figures; they get more work using formulas to find the areas, perimeters, and volumes of different figures. Sixth graders also get more experience working with data sets. They prepare for the systematic study of algebra by solving equations containing one variable. Among other things, sixth graders are able to do the following: Numbers and Number Sense read and write numbers up to the trillions add and subtract positive and negative integers solve problems involving prime numbers; squares and square roots; greatest common factors; least common multiples learn to read and use exponents; identify powers of ten up to 106 Die den Effekt durch 30-60 Minuten nach der Aufnahme geben.
