WHO WE ARE
The educators of Education Network have been rooted in the multi-facets of public education as teachers, administrators, and college professors for over twenty years and have had many opportunities to both work inside the field and to study current and historical trends in education. Our research and professional time has afforded us the opportunity to see educational perspectives from different regions of the country and abroad. Our professional careers have shown us to be forceful and passionate contributors in areas that affect student achievement.
As morally and civically responsible individuals, we recognize ourselves as members of a larger social fabric and therefore consider the world’s current social problems to be at least partly our own. Such individuals as ourselves can see the moral and civic dimensions of current society, make and justify informed moral and civic judgments, and are ready to take action. Our commitment to civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our parents, schools, and communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values, and motivation to make that difference in the lives of our children.
We feel that the primary responsibility of parents is to prepare the next generation to lead us into the future. They must have the skills to help prepare their children for learning and competing at high levels. We feel that parents must understand and convey to their children that life is not easy; it takes hard work and dedication to be successful in life. The world has changed and evolved so there is no time to make excuses. It is time for parents to become better informed and active participants in their child’s education equipped with the skills needed to significantly influence their children’s educational outcomes! Parental education is a must if we are going to produce a generation of productive citizens who will take us to new heights. Education Network rests upon this foundation.
